Chronology of cameras Sawyers

Traduction de Sylvain Halgand.

To be precise, this camera launched between May 1952 and September 1952. When launched, are already, on the American market of the stereo cameras, Busch Verascope F40 (269 dollars), Iloca Stereo II (125 dollars), Key Stereo (27,20 dollars, but uses format 828), Stereo Realist (162 dollars), Stereo realist ST42 (227 dollars) and Videon (97 dollars). View Master costs 149$, but offers a characteristic. It makes it possible to carry out its own View-Master reels, which in addition, are per hundreds, in the trade, to represent scenics, heroes of cinema etc… There is absolute compatibility .

View-Master Personal has two anastigmat 3,5/25 mm lenses, a shutter of 1/10 to 1/100 second and a spirit level in the finder. The two large serrated rollers located on the top of the camera, constitute a computation chart of exposure.
The marked button of a “B” (or “A”) and of an arrow, located between the two lenses, makes it possible to move a part located behind what seems to be the lens, and which is only one protection out of glass. This mobile part (which is in low position on the photograph, below) is the darkroom and supports the lens and the shutter. This displacement is necessary because the negative measure only 12 X 12 mm (approximately) and thus, a film 35 mm, makes it possible to make some hold two in its width. In order to save film, the use of this camera requires to advance film, to position the button on “A”, to take a photograph, then to position the button on “B”, to take a photograph and finally, to advance film again.
